About SOCA - Survivors of Child Abuse

How it started

SOCA was started from humble beginnings when a few men reached out to each other and saw the need to support other men who suffered childhood abuse especially following the alarming statistics that came from the Royal Commission into Institutional Abuse and the lack of specialised support in WA.

We welcome those who have experienced sexual or physical Abuse, neglect, or psychological trauma as Children within institutions, the family system or outside the family as we recognise the trauma is shared.

Everybody at SOCA volunteers their time and are passionate in supporting Male Survivors of Childhood abuse. Our facilitators are trained in facilitating Peer to Peer support groups and many bring a wealth of knowledge and experience.

A group of Supporters that are passionate about assisting Survivors are also working hard in advocating for and on behalf of Survivors of Childhood abuse to to lobby for legislative review and change, improved funding and services for survivors and ensuring institutions act with integrity, empathy and accountability.
